Back to GuidesHow to Add and Sync Subtitles in Reezn
Add external subtitles in Reezn, fix out-of-sync captions in 100ms steps, adjust size and style, and use subtitles while casting.

Loading an external subtitle file
During playback, open the subtitle menu (the speech-bubble icon) in the Reezn APK and choose to load an external file. .srt is the safest format. If the subtitle file shares the video's filename and sits in the same folder, Reezn usually picks it up automatically.
Fixing out-of-sync captions
Drift happens: captions that start fine and slowly lag, or a file whose timing is uniformly off. In the subtitle menu, adjust the delay in 100ms steps while a line of dialogue is on screen. Nudge, watch one line, nudge again. The offset saves per-file, so you fix each video once. v2.0.20 also fixed a long-standing drift bug on files over two hours, so update to the current build if old movies wander.
Changing size and style
Subtitle settings control text size, color, and background. For projectors and TVs, bump the size one step and add a semi-transparent background: white text over bright scenes washes out without it. These are global settings, so set them once.
Subtitles over Chromecast
Subtitles burn into the cast stream from the phone, so your size and sync settings carry over to the TV automatically. If captions vanish when casting, the subtitle track was not selected before you hit the cast icon: select it first, then cast.
Where to find subtitle files
Use subtitles from your own collection or legitimate subtitle sources, and match the file to your exact video release: a subtitle timed for one cut of a film will drift on another. When timing is close but not perfect, the 100ms nudge closes the gap.
Playback problems rather than caption problems? The video fix guide works through those in order. And if you have not explored the controls yet, the gesture guide covers every swipe.
Good subtitles are invisible: when the Reezn APK nails the timing, you forget the captions are even there, which is exactly the goal.
Quick answers
Which subtitle format works best?
.srt is the most reliable. Name it identically to the video file and keep both in the same folder for auto-detection.
Why do subtitles drift only on long movies?
Frame-rate mismatches accumulate over time. v2.0.20 fixed the worst of this; for the rest, the 100ms delay nudge corrects it per-file.
Do subtitle settings apply when casting?
Yes. Captions render on the phone and travel with the cast stream, so size and sync carry over.
