The Projection Booth Protocol
No file reaches the download button without clearing our six-phase projection booth protocol on real hardware. Media players get extra scrutiny because the app, the codecs, and your files are three separate things that all have to agree.
Phase 1: Provenance and signature
We confirm the APK signature, package name (com.rmedia.rplayer), and version code match the genuine release. Anything repacked or re-signed fails here and never ships.
Phase 2: Malware scan
The file is scanned with multiple engines before it touches a test phone. A single detection ends the run.
Phase 3: Clean install
We install on a factory-reset test phone and a daily-driver phone, watching for permission overreach, crashes on first launch, and background behavior.
Phase 4: Playback gauntlet
A fixed set of files goes through the player: H.264, H.265, VP9, common audio codecs, external subtitles, and a 4K stress clip. We log what plays, what stutters, and what needs a settings change.
Phase 5: Casting and screens
Chromecast handoff, Android TV sideload layout, and rotation behavior are tested on real hardware, not emulators.
Phase 6: The week-long soak
The build stays installed for a week of normal use. Battery behavior, library rescan stability, and resume-point reliability are logged before we sign off.
Only a build that clears all six phases gets the download button. The reviewer who runs it is Diego Fernandez, and his test notes feed every guide on this site.
