Back to GuidesEvery Format Reezn Can Play (and the Tricky Ones)
The honest Reezn format list: video containers, audio codecs, subtitle formats, what plays natively, and what needs a workaround.

Video: the safe list
The Reezn APK handles the formats that make up the vast majority of personal libraries: MP4 with H.264, H.265/HEVC, MKV with common video tracks, VP9, and AVI. If your files come from a phone camera, a screen recorder, or a mainstream download, they play.
Audio: mostly smooth
AAC, MP3, Vorbis, Opus, and FLAC all play natively. AC3 and DTS are the tricky ones: support depends on your phone's decoder, and some devices skip them silently, which produces the classic symptom of video with no sound. The playback settings' audio output toggle resolves most of these cases.
Subtitles
External .srt files are the reliable choice, with .ass/.ssa styling partially supported. Embedded subtitle tracks in MKV are detected automatically. Right-to-left languages render correctly in our testing.
The tricky ones
Three categories cause trouble: exotic containers from old cameras, DRM-locked files (no third-party player opens these, by design), and mislabeled extensions where the container does not match the filename. For the first, a desktop remux into MKV or MP4 takes minutes and keeps quality identical. For DRM, use the service's own app.
4K and HDR
Reezn attempts 4K on capable hardware with hardware decoding enabled. HDR metadata passes through on phones whose screens support it; on SDR screens the image tone-maps down gracefully. If 4K stutters, 1080p is the pragmatic choice.
Format confirmed but still no playback? The fix guide works through the remaining causes in order. Pulling from a NAS instead of local storage? Network streaming has its own quirks worth knowing. Get the current build from the Reezn APK download page.
If your collection is mainstream formats, the Reezn APK plays it all without a second thought; only the truly exotic files need a backup plan.
Quick answers
Does Reezn play MKV files?
Yes, MKV with common video and audio tracks plays natively, including embedded subtitles.
Why is there video but no sound?
Usually an unsupported audio codec like certain DTS tracks. Toggle the audio output mode in playback settings.
Does Reezn play DRM-protected files?
No, and neither does any third-party player. DRM content requires the service's own app.
